VAS Receives County Grant for Home Energy Upgrades for the 3rd time.
Vietnamese American Services (VAS) is proud to be one of four organizations selected to receive funding through Montgomery County's Healthy, Efficient, Electrified, Climate-Adapted Pilot (HEECAP) Homes Grant Program.
Through this grant, VAS will help approximately 33 low- and moderate-income households in Montgomery County upgrade home appliances and heating systems through electrification while increasing awareness of energy-efficiency programs among residents with limited English proficiency.
This initiative supports healthier homes, lower energy costs, and greater climate resilience for local families. VAS is honored to continue connecting community members with resources that improve quality of life and promote a more sustainable future.

This August, the HEECAP team continued expanding community outreach and preparing for upcoming activities. VAS participated in two community events: the Vien An Temple event and the Back-to-School Fair at Paint Branch High School, where staff connected with community members and shared information about the HEECAP program.
VAS staff and our electrician also conducted an initial screening of a household interested in transitioning from a gas heating system to an electric heat pump. This provided an opportunity to assess the home's existing system and determine the potential next steps for electrification.
Meanwhile, the VAS Environment Team is actively preparing for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival on September 20, 2026. The event will be an important opportunity to introduce HEECAP to more community members, provide energy-efficiency education, and increase awareness of the program.
